Bangkapi Flyover Bridge
Bangkapi Flyover Bridge Traffic Vibration Test
|
The primary objective of the Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) installed on the Bangkapi Viaduct was to suppress vibrations induced in the bridge deck due to traffic loads. To achieve this, a cantilever-type TMD with a low friction coefficient—capable of operating effectively even under low acceleration—was selected for installation.
This decision leveraged the advantages of the cantilever-type TMD, including its low inherent friction, ease of spring design, and the ability to easily tune the TMD’s natural frequency by adjusting the position of the moving mass. These characteristics offered significant benefits for this project. After the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) was successfully completed, the TMD units were installed beneath the bridge deck. A Site Acceptance Test (SAT) using heavy trucks confirmed that the vibrations were successfully mitigated. Specifications of Mass Dampers:
▣ Type: Cantilever TMD (4 sets) ▣ Control Direction: Vertical Dir. ▣ Specification - Moving Mass: 2 tons (per set) - Max. Stroke: ±5.0cm ▣ Conceptual & Detailed Design / Manufacture / Installation / Performance test / |
