Vibration Control Tech.
for Bridges

Our Vibration Control Device is installed to increase wind resistance performance and damping performance to provide stability of the bridge. Our engineers are able to design and fabricate proper device to be installed either in construction or in-service phase to control vibration.
Long-span bridges, such as suspension bridges and cable-stayed bridges, tend to exhibit relatively low bending and torsional stiffness, making them highly sensitive to wind loads. Their complex structural characteristics induce various types of errors occurring during the design, fabrication, and erection phases, which can significantly affect the bridge’s shape, cable tension, and stress distribution.

It is therefore necessary to limit these errors within acceptable ranges to ensure structural safety and improve construction precision.
Additionally, when the bridge deck is constructed using methods such as FCM, the deck remains in a cantilevered state during the construction stage, making it more vulnerable to wind loads compared to the completed structure, which requires appropriate countermeasures.

In the case of pedestrian bridges, while structural stability is generally secured, concerns may arise regarding pedestrian comfort due to vertical vibrations after construction is completed.
If vertical vibrations exceed certain threshold levels, pedestrians or users may experience discomfort, and repeated vibrations may eventually lead to fatigue damage of the structural components.
Therefore, vibration control devices are installed on bridges to reduce vibrations, enhance structural safety, and improve overall usability.
