The Haneda Link Bridge, also known as Tamagawa Sky Bridge or Haneda Airport Access Line, connects the city of Kawasaki to Haneda Airport. The structure spans 640 meters, with a main span of 240 meters.
Wind tunnel testing indicated the necessity for control of vortex-induced vibrations in the vertical direction. To address this, 20 sets of TMDs were installed, each with a moving mass of 3.5 tons. In a collaborative effort with Nichizo Tech. (NTI) of Japan, the TMDs were manufactured and performance-tested within Japanese borders, rather than in Korea for saving manufacturing cost. Notably, the TMDs were integrated into the steel box girders during the manufacturing stage, prior to the bridge's construction. |
