Stockbridge damper, currently most commonly used vibration damper for power line, can be designed to dissipate the input wind energy over a wide range of frequencies. 
Although hanger ropes used in suspension bridges and stay cables used in cable-stayed bridges are highly effective in supporting bridge loads, they tend to be exposed to various types of wind-induced vibrations due to their relatively low damping ratio:

- aeolian vibration (vortex-induced vibration)
- galloping
- wake galloping
- rain-induced vibration
- parametric excitation
- buffeting

The Stockbridge damper not only offers a significantly lower-cost solution compared to conventional hydraulic dampers, but it is also easier to install and allows flexible repositioning to achieve maximum damping performance.
TE Solution possesses not only the technology and expertise for Stockbridge dampers used in suspension bridges, but also for those applied to cable-stayed bridges, which require more demanding control of lower-order vibration modes.
