![]() 2nd Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel has been finally completed. Size of the test area is 3.5m(W) x 2.0m(H) x 18.0m(L) and wind speed range is controllable between 0.3m/s~13.0m/s. So now TESolution is equipped with total four wind tunnels including two Boundary Layer Wind Tunnels and two 2-D wind tunnels. TE Solution is now a global professional wind engineering company offering various wind resistant design and analysis in the fields of building and bridge structures. ![]() For the first time in Korea, this pendulum-type unidirectional Tuned Mass Damper using wire ropes with moving mass of 80 tons and stroke range of 200mm is being conducted of test and scheduled to be installed in a residential building, Korea. Wish it will be a great success to be marked as Korea's first pendulum type TMD using wire ropes. From May 11th to 13th, everyone at TESolution went on a company trip to Jeju-Island, a volcanic island and also Unesco Heritage site located south of the Korean peninsula famous for its beautiful scenery of grass covered volcanic lava cones and beaches. It was a great time for all of us to briefly forget about the Covid-19 situation that has globally impacted the way people go about their everyday business and enjoy the moment and breathe in fresh air.
Special thanks to our CEO Dr. Kim for this unforgettable experience. Workshop testing for Tuned Mass Dampers for Kobe Steel Chimney was completed at TESolution structural lab in Korea and they were safely packed for shipping on the first week of May. Kobe Steel Chimney is located in Kakogawa, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. It is a very slender and flexible structure so its structural stability is often determined by wind load rather than earthquake load.
In particular, in this type of structure, the structure system is often determined by the vibration in across wind direction rather than the vibration in along wind direction, In order to avoid potential risk of vortex induced vibration and aerodynamic instability within the designed wind speed range 4 sets of 0.76ton TMD were designed to be installed at the top (90m) of the structure where the maximum deformation is expected. Workshop testing for Tuned Mass Dampers for the Greenland Centre Sydney residential tower was completed at TESolution structural lab in Korea last April. 180 ton moving mass is designed to slide back and forth on top of the Linear Motion Guides while most of its vertical load is dispersed throughout 4 rubber bearing columns that can freely move horizontally as shown on the above pictures.
The TMD is on its way to Sydney at the moment, and it will be installed on the top floor of the tower somewhere in this up coming summer. The design of TMD utilizing rubber bearing column is very unique as it can be tuned to the structure with extremely low natural frequency while maintaining relative low vertical installation space as opposed to traditional pendulum type TMDs. Witness Testing of Mythuan No.2 Bridge in Vietnam took place on September 18th.
The engineers and the government officers from TEDI, PMU7, and Ministry of Transportation(MOT), Vietnam have visited TESolution wind tunnel facilities and witnessed the wind tunnel testing on Mythuan No.2 Bridge. Now that Taichung Treasure Graden 150 ton TMD, located in the city of Taichung Taiwan, is nearing its Completion, we can finally see the beautiful bi-directional Pendulum TMD in its entirety, including the buffer system as well as four massive hydraulic dampers hanging from the ceiling.
On May 3rd, 2019, there was a signing of the contract for Wind Tunnel Testing of My Thuan 2nd Bridge in Vietnam between Dr. Kim, CEO of TESolution, and Mr. Son, the General Director of TEDI(Transport Engineering Design Inc) at TEDI's office in Hanoi.
It was a wonderful time for us to introduce our company as well as our products and service we offer in the field of wind engineering such as our wind tunnel testing facilities and track record, Tuned Mass Damper, and Active Mass Damper for various buildings and civil structures. Once a state owned public company, TEDI has turned to private company in 2014, and now is the biggest civil engineering firm in Vietnam. TESolution is grateful for everyone at TEDI who had attended the meeting as they have been an enthusiastic audience during our presentation, with special thanks to Mr. Son, the General Director and Mr. Dung, the Deputy General Director of TEDI who have provided us with this great new business opportunity in Vietnam. TESolution has designed the vertical TMD to control the vibration of the main girder of the Haneda Bridge in Tokyo Japan and produced a TMD prototype for testing at TESoluion Structural Lab.
This time TESolution engineers visited the workshop in Japan to inspect the fabrication procedure of TMD as well as to test the damping performance of oil damper as well as TESolution designed silicon damper. |
