Busan International Finance Center (BIFC)
The BIFC is interacted commercial complex, which consists of a landmark building (63 story high), and three high rise buildings (25~40 story). The tall buildings, such as the landmark building of BIFC, with high slenderness ratio are structurally vulnerable to lateral loads, especially against wind loads. In terms of wind loads, the slender buildings are more likely to be effected by the across-wind vibration caused by vortex-induced vibration and aerodynamic instability, rather than by buffeting. The across-wind vibration shows various patterns depending on the shape of the building and its surrounding structures, and wind tunnel test is a must to ensure safety. ▣ High Frequency Force Balance Test: - Determine wind-induced structural load for structural design and evaluate wind-induced acceleration for serviceability ▣ Wind Pressure Test - Determine wind loads for cladding design |
