A Giant Ferris Wheel in Dubai U.A.E
A-frame leg is designed to support the overall Ferris Wheel. Historically, wind has been one of the major concerns for in many constructions in Dubai, where the wind from the seaside is more than harsh at times. the wheel will stand on top of an artificial island just like the Burj Al Arab, which makes the wind even more of an important factor. After a wind tunnel test, it showed that the A-frame legs will likely have vortex induced vibration from the wind, both in internal and external sides.
In order to reduce the vortex induced vibration 2 sets of 45 ton TMDs were installed on the upper part of A-frame, and 4 sets of 4 ton TMDs were installed on the center part of the each legs. |
