Ulsan Bridge (Wind Resistance Design & Cable Dampers)
Ulsan Bridge is a suspension bridge, meaning that the bridge deck is suspended by the hanger cable. The bridge had the main span of 1.15 km. The main span of Ulsan bridge is the second longest in Korea and the longest among single-span bridges in the world.
The steel box deck girder of the bridge, with an overall width of 25.6m, carries four lanes of traffic. TESolution conducted wind tunnel test for wind resistance design of the bridge, and installed cable dampers as well. The wind tunnel tests and analyses were carried out to investigate the wind-induced behaviors of the bridge during and after construction. The items of tests and analyses are described as follows: Wind Tunnel Test/Analysis Conducted: ▣ Wind climate analysis ▣ Section model test of bridge deck ▣ Section model test of pylon leg ▣ Section model test of catwalk ▣ Aeroelastic model test of free standing pylon ▣ Aeroelastic model test of full bridge ▣ Buffeting analysis of pylon during erection stages ▣ Buffeting analysis of catwalk |
