Ulsan Bridge (​Stockbridge Dampers installed on hanger cables)
​The hanger cable of suspension bridges are usually made up of stainless steel cables. They are strong to hold weight, but are also very flexible, which make them vulnerable to wind. Ulsan Bridge is located across a shoreline, and exposed to wind everyday. The vortex induced vibration on the cables frequently occurred after the bridge was constructed, and if left alone, the vibration was severe enough to cause serious damage to the structure of the bridge. 2 SB Dampers were installed on each cable of the bridge, which successfully reduced the vibration to minimal state. Both the safety and serviceability of the bridge have been secured with the installation of Cable Dampers.
