Ulsan Lotte Hotel is a high rise hotel building in the city of Ulsan in Korea.
Ulsan Lotte Hotel is a 5 star hotel located in the heart of city of Ulsan, the place known for automobile and heavy industry.
After the completion, it was found out later by the hotel guests that the building was swaying badly on windy days and this happened quite frequently.
Two sets of 20 ton bi-axial  AMDs were installed on the top floor of the building to mitigate wind vibration.
Compared to conventional passive type TMD, AMD receives the building acceleration data from the accelerometer installed on the building and immediately reacts to the building sway movement to mitigate vibration. 
Hence, it not only shows higher control performance, but also requires much smaller mass and hence results in more compact system ideal for tight installation space.
